1 cup fresh watermelon juice
1 tablespoon simple syrup
1 tablespoon lime or lemon juice
4 ounces vodka
1 ounces triple sec or cointreau
basil or mint, optional

Combine ingredients in cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into rocks glass filled with ice.  Top with basil or mint.

To make simple syrup put equal amounts of sugar and water in small saucepan. Bring to boil or heat until sugar is dissolved. Turn off heat, cool and store in refrigerator.

Alternative method – Use frozen watermelon slices instead of juice.  Place all ingredients in a blender and puree.
